Meet ColdSnap, the “Keurig” of ice cream, smoothies, and frozen yogurt. You can now make your own homemade ice cream in less than 2 minutes | Tech News

Has there ever been a time when you’re craving ice cream only to out find out you have none left in the freezer and it’s too late to run the store? Now imagine a Keurig machine, but for ice cream! Meet ColdSnap, an ice-cream-making appliance that whips up soft-serve ice cream, smoothies like a Keurig from pods in less than 2 minutes. It was unveiled Monday by Sigma Phase at CES 2021.

ColdSnap turns liquid, shelf-stable pods into frozen treats like ice cream, smoothies, frozen yogurts, frozen protein shakes, or cocktails. What’s the fastest time you’ve ever made ice cream. Depending on the type of frozen treats you want to make, you can make your favorite treats from ColdSnap pods in less than 2 minutes.

ColdSnap is a rapid freezing appliance that produces single servings of frozen confections and frozen beverages in less than 2 minutes. The ColdSnap machine accepts shelf-stable, ambient temperature, ColdSnap pods – and then freezes and dispenses the contents of those ColdSnap™ pods in less than 120 seconds. No preparation of ColdSnap pods is required and no cleanup of the ColdSnap™ machine is necessary.

The ColdSnap works just like a Keurig appliance, but instead of dishing out coffee, it makes single-serve pod-dispensed ice cream and other tasty frozen treats. Frozen margaritas, mango passionfruit smoothies and chocolate ice cream are just a few of the available options.

Founded by President and CEO Matthew Fonte, the idea behind ColdSnap originated with Matt’s two daughters when they were looking at topping the list of problems to solve in invention journals. They later came up with the idea of how to create a better ice-cream machine for at home use. Fonte, a serial entrepreneur, saw potential in this idea and later research into the process led him to start ColdSnap.

Meanwhile, the ColdSnap will still undergo a smaller beta launch later this year, before launching fully in 2022. ColdSnap has not yet finalized the prices. However, the company said the appliance is expected to cost between $500 and $1,000, with pods costing $2.99 each.
