GoDaddy acquires SkyVerge, the tech startup behind most popular WordPress plugin WooCommerce | Tech News

With a multi-billion-dollar war chest, GoDaddy announced its new acquisition today. This time around, the world’s largest company announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire SkyVerge, the tech startup behind the most popular WordPress plugin, WooCommerce. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. As part of the acquisition agreement, all SkyVerge employees, including its co-founders and leadership team, will join GoDaddy.

As we reported early this year, GoDaddy acquired a competing domain registrar and marketplace Uniregistry and its 350,000 domains for $196 million. GoDaddy continues the buying spree since Aman Bhutani became the new CEO in September 2019.

Founded in 2013 by Max Rice and Justin Stern, SkyVerge is a developer of eCommerce analytics software called WooCommerce designed to analyze orders and transactions involved with eCommerce transactions. Its analytics software offers reviews, tips, and tutorials for eCommerce with WordPress and Skyverge that focuses on-site maintenance and product purchases, enabling website developers to find quality resources and tutorials to launch or manage their eCommerce store online.

SkyVerge has more than 60 WooCommerce extensions, spanning payments, email marketing, and memberships, used by over 100,000 eCommerce merchants for high-performance online stores. A favorite among WordPress developers, SkyVerge plugins have been downloaded more than 3.1 million times on SkyVerge will continue to support its existing customers and product portfolio, as well as continue its contributions to open-source software.
