Even with the ongoing unrest around the country, more than one million immigrants arrive in the U.S. each year, according to data from Pew Research. Some of these immigrants came to the U.S. through work visas. Some came as students and later stayed to start their own companies. Can you imagine a world without Apple, Amazon and Google? Today, over 60% of America’s most highly valued tech firms were founded by first and second generation immigrants.

Below is a list of the biggest U.S.’s biggest companies started by immigrants. This list is in no way exhaustive when it comes to showing just how important immigrants are to the U.S. economy. We’re only highlighting some of those best-known companies founded by immigrants.
